Here we will present you the recommended configuration under which the Jumbo theme would work perfectly. Those are not absolute values, the theme performance depends on many factors like the host performance, server configuration and the number of visitors.
Server requirements
-
WordPress 4.0 or later
-
Apache (not tested on Nginx)
-
php.ini memory limit: 40MB (recommended: 64M)
-
PHP version 5.2.4 or greater (recommended: PHP 5.4 or greater)
-
MySQL version 5.0 or greater (recommended: MySQL 5.5 or greater)
For optimal performance the server requires some settings to be made, the optimizations include:
-
Choose a good hosting service - choosing a good web hosting will increase your website performance.
-
Use a cache plugin – we recommend WP Super Cache
-
Enable compression on your website - less time to load your pages, and less bandwidth used over all.
-
Use P3 Plugin Profiler to see which plugins are slowing down your site. Some poorly coded plugins may impact your site performance.
Hosting requirements
If WordPress performs fine on your host, the theme should too. Hosting performance is depended on your WordPress configuration, plugin configuration and general OS configuration. Also a CDN solution like Cloud Flare should help a lot.
Next we will present you a list of common hosts performance you can expect to host on them:
Cheap shared hosting:
-
Will not handle traffic spikes well
-
Use if possible a small amount of plugins
Budget VPS
-
Will not handle traffic spikes well
-
Get as much ram as possible
High performance VPS
-
Should be with more than 4GB of ram
-
If properly configured and with enough ram and a swap partition the server should handle traffic spikes
Dedicated server
-
On dedicated servers and with that traffic number, at least 8 GB of ram will help a lot
-
It should handle traffic spikes well

If you have existing content and featured images, you will have to install
Regenerate Thumbnails plugin and run it from Tools > Regen. Thumbnails
Regenerate Thumbnails This plugin will help you a lot when you are switching to a new WordPress theme and you already have a website with existing content. You should actually use it for any new theme. You just need to run this plugin once and it will (re)generate all your uploaded image sizes to match your new theme layout. That way your theme will use proper and optimized image sizes and it will improve website performance significantly.

-
If you are using MyArcadePlugin, make sure you have the games and thumbs directories inside your wp-content, otherwise create it manually.

Remove All Default WordPress Widgets before importing demo content.

-
Set the page title as Home or Homepage or whatever you want

-
Navigate to your download package and search for demo-content folder.
-
Open Home Page folder and copy/paste the shortcode from homepage-default.txt (or any other) to your page editor screen then publish the page.

-
navigate to your Dashboard / Settings / Reading and assign the Front Page you've just created as in image bellow:

Now, your Homepage should looks like our demo site!
If you use MyArcadePlugin, you will need to adjust two more settings as below:
-
MyArcade » Settings » General Settings » Game Post Template: Check “Activate Post Template” and add
%DESCRIPTION%
to the game post template text area. This will prevent MyArcadePlugin from adding game thumbnails to post content.

-
MyArcade » Settings » General Settings » Featured Image: Check “Yes” to to attach game thumbnails to the created post as featured images.

Strongly Recommended & Requirement
Since images provided by game distributors (via Fetch Games feature) are small and they will lose quality if enlarged according to our theme design, we strongly recommend to upload larger featured images manually! Minimum recomended width size is 728px. Ideal width size is 1116px.
However, is really bad for SEO to use the same images that other hundreds or thousands of sites use them also.

Before you update, it is best practice to:

You can translate your theme using .pot file and Poedit software or using our built-in translator.
Translation using .pot file and Poedit software:
For all those who prefer translation with files included into theme we recommend to use .pot file.
- Download the PO edit free software from here http://www.poedit.net/
- Navigate to your theme folder jumbo/languages
- Using Poedid software, open jumbo.pot file
- Translate/change words in any language you want, then save the file to your hard drive changing its name according to your language code, e.g. for the French – Français you must save it as fr_FR.po Please make sure that you have selected All files on save, so the software will generate a .mo file too, which also need to be renamed according to your language code.
- Navigate to your main WordPress directory, open wp-config.php and search for:
define(‘WPLANG’, '');
Change it according to your language code and files you’ve just saved with poedit, e.g. for the French – Français you must add:
define(‘WPLANG’, 'fr_FR');
Another example: for the Portuguese spoken in Brazil you must add:
define(‘WPLANG’, 'pt_BR');
Once you’ve added your language code, save the wp-config.php file. That’s all!
Translation our built-in translator:
If you don`t want to play with above files and prefer much easier and faster way to translate your theme we recommend to use our built-in translator. This tool is in Theme options > Translation:
